SESAC Latina recognized the best in Latin music at its annual SESAC LATINA MUSIC AWARDS ceremony, held at The Beverly Hills Hotel on Tuesday, June 27. Celebrating the global successes of its affiliated songwriters and publishers, the organization handed out a variety of prestigious accolades, including awards for Breakthrough Songwriter, Producer, and Song of the Year.

In an evening charged with star power, awards were presented by Celeste Zendejas (Vice President, SESAC Latina), Scott Jungmichel (President & COO, SESAC Performing Rights), Sam Kling (SESAC's Chief Creative Officer), and Ana Rocha (Senior Manager, SESAC Latina). SESAC executives also took the opportunity to thank City National Bank, Sound Royalties, and Rossi P.C. for their sponsorship and TNT Agency for their outstanding makeup services.

One of the evening's highlight moments came when Yahritza Martínez, a member of the sibling trio Yahritza Y Su Esencia, was awarded the Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year. Last year, Martínez became the youngest performer to chart on Billboard’s Hot 100 with her debut single “Soy El Único.” In a poignant moment, Billboard’s Chief Content Officer, Leila Cobo, invited Martínez's brothers, Mando and Jairo, to the stage to present her with this well-deserved recognition.

Edén Muñoz was recognized as the Songwriter of the Year – Regional Mexican for the fourth year, thanks to hits such as "¡Chale!" and his work with celebrated artists like Pepe Aguilar, Christian Nodal, La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho, and Banda MS. Meanwhile, Lenny Tavárez was honored with the Songwriter of the Year – Pop/Latin Rhythm award for his collaborative work with artists such as Karol G, Justin Quiles, Blessd, and more – including the chart-topping hit “Envolver.”

The awards for Publisher of the Year saw Sony Sounds retaining the Pop/Latin Rhythm category for the eighth consecutive year, while EMC Lyrics clinched the Regional Mexican title, marking an impressive achievement for the company established only in 2022.

Federico Vindver, a seven-time GRAMMY Award-winning producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, took home the award for Producer of the Year. With songs that have garnered over seven billion streams globally across all platforms, Vindver has collaborated with an array of superstars including Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, and Coldplay.

The evening concluded with an electrifying performance by Lenny Tavárez, who has solidified his status as one of the Latin urban genre's most sought-after artists. Tavárez's award-winning hit, "Envolver," made history by becoming the first Latin solo song to reach number one on the Spotify global chart, earning the song a place in the Guinness World Records.

In a night of accolades and performances, the 2023 SESAC Latina Music Awards not only recognized the achievements of those shaping Latin music but also served as a platform to showcase the depth and breadth of talent within the industry. The accomplishments celebrated at the event signal a promising future for Latin music and those who bring it to life.
