On Tuesday night, under the dazzling lights of Los Angeles, Lenny Tavárez, the esteemed Puerto Rican singer and songwriter, claimed a prestigious accolade - the SESAC Latina Songwriter of the Year award for 2023.
Tavárez received the "Pop Latin Rhythm" Songwriter of the Year award for his globally acclaimed hit "Envolver," performed by Brazilian singer Anitta. This infectious rhythm surged to the #1 spot on the global popularity charts in 2022, firmly establishing Tavárez as a leading force in Latin music.

In an emotional acceptance speech, Tavárez said, "First of all, thanks to God, for the talent, for the opportunities, thank you SESAC for the affection. With all due respect to men, my career and my life changed when I began to write and dedicate more to women. This award is dedicated to the women in this industry, the dreamers, the persevering, who through hard work have become 'Bichotas'. This goes to you, especially to my mother, my sister, and the 'Bichotas' of the genre, Karol G and Anitta, for allowing me to be part of history as a composer. Thank you again!"
SESAC Latina is an association of authors, composers, and publishers that regulates their rights in the United States music industry. This distinguished recognition not only celebrates Tavárez's work but also acknowledges the potent influence and prominence of Latin music on the global stage.
Tavárez's victory, powered by his dedication to women in the industry and his brilliant compositions, underscores the growing diversity and inclusivity of the music scene. As he continues to shape Latin music with his distinct and vibrant rhythms, the world eagerly anticipates what Tavárez will present next.
