With her directorial feature debut, Caroline Lindy and producer Kayla Foster sit down with Savannah to talk about the making of Your Monster. Adapted from Lindy’s short film made in 2019.Laura, a hopeful musical theater performer, is dealt a crushing hand when she’s diagnosed with cancer and hospitalized.

During her recovery, her world is further upended when her boyfriend, Jacob, decides to break up with her. Adding salt to the wound, Jacob, a playwright and director, hands the lead role in his latest production—a role Laura inspired and helped him create—to another actress, Jackie. Returning to her childhood home to recover, Laura stumbles upon an enigmatic figure known as Monster, a strange yet charming creature with a disarming wit and a knack for motivation. Monster helps Laura confront her frustrations and uncover a fierce determination she didn’t know she had.

When Laura secures a position as the understudy in Jacob’s production, tensions mount as unresolved feelings and old wounds resurface during rehearsals. With Monster’s guidance, Laura begins to channel her emotions into strength, confronting her past and forging a new path for herself, both on and off the stage. Falling in love with her inner rage. The film first featured at Sundance earlier this year and is now available to stream at home.
