Tequila Don Julio Unveils New Artist Edition Bottle With Patricio Campillo at New York Fashion Week

A bridge of marigolds rose over the East River on Sunday evening, and by the time Patricio Campillo's runway show wrapped at the Downtown Manhattan Heliport, Tequila Don Julio had used the moment to introduce the newest bottle in its Artist Edition series, this one designed by Campillo himself.

The release is not the brand's first attempt at turning packaging into art, nor is it Campillo's first turn working alongside the tequila house. Don Julio backed Campillo's Spring/Summer 2026 show at NYFW last September, a collection the designer built around Mexican heritage and craft traditions from Oaxaca, Querétaro and Yucatán. The Artist Edition bottle series itself carries its own history: last year's edition was fronted by designer Willy Chavarria, who also directed a short film for El Puente Eterno, the same Día de Muertos campaign this year's bottle draws from, according to Variety. Sunday's show marked Campillo's fifth season at New York Fashion Week and his first time designing the bottle rather than simply showing alongside it.

Cristalino tequila's soul-bridging Día de Muertos design

Campillo's Design Turns a Holiday Symbol Into a Bottle

The bottle draws its imagery from El Puente Eterno, or The Eternal Bridge, Tequila Don Julio's global Día de Muertos campaign centered on the cempasúchil, the marigold long associated with guiding the dead home during the holiday. Campillo's original artwork depicts two souls reunited, with the tequila inside functioning as a visual stand-in for the bridge between them. Inside the bottle is Tequila Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino, the brand's Cristalino Añejo, made from 100 percent Blue Weber agave grown in the Jalisco Highlands, aged in American white oak and then charcoal filtered to strip its color while keeping the depth of an añejo. The 750ml limited edition is now rolling out to select retailers nationwide and online through TheBar.com, ReserveBar and Caskers, priced at $69.99.

Star-studded NYFW after-party celebrates heritage

A Guest List and a Cocktail Menu Built Around Mexican Talent

Set against views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the East River, the runway show doubled as the first public staging of El Puente Eterno, with a cempasúchil-covered bridge installation built into the venue itself. More than 200 guests attended, including recording artist DANNA, who rebranded from her longtime stage name Danna Paola in 2024, along with Valentina Ferrer, Jesus Ortiz, chef Elena Reygadas, Soleon, Dani Shultz and Eduardo Holguin. Cocktails for the evening included a specialty drink from Bar Mauro, the Mexico City bar that placed second overall on North America's 50 Best Bars list this year, the highest ranking of any Mexican bar on the list, according to Rolling Stone.

The evening closed with an after-party continuing the night's themes of memory and return, folding the campaign's emotional register into the kind of after-hours mingling that defines fashion week itself.

Don Julio's Artist Edition strategy has now run three years deep, moving from Chavarria's film work to Campillo's bottle design without slowing down. Pairing a Mexican spirits brand with Mexican designers on one of fashion's biggest American stages reads as a deliberate bet that heritage sells better as authorship than as branding, and this year's version puts that bet in front of a bigger crowd than the one before it.
