ViX Unveils the Modern Adaptation of Classic Telenovela "Senda Prohibida

ViX, the world's leading Spanish-language streaming service, has taken a bold step by unveiling the official trailer of its highly anticipated original series, "Senda Prohibida" (Forbidden Path). This modern adaptation of the first-ever telenovela produced in Mexico is set to premiere on June 23, coinciding with the 65th anniversary of the original series. With all seven episodes available on launch day, ViX aims to captivate audiences and introduce a new generation to the timeless allure of telenovelas.

Originally written by Fernanda Villeli and aired in 1958, "Senda Prohibida" was a groundbreaking series that kickstarted the rich tradition of telenovelas in Mexico and around the world. The show's influence on television storytelling cannot be overstated, as it has inspired countless narratives and storytellers throughout the decades. In celebration of this iconic anniversary, ViX is honored to bring this classic series to a global audience.

Vincenzo Gratteri, the senior vice president of Development for ViX at TelevisaUnivision, expressed his excitement, saying, "Senda Prohibida is a landmark in the history of television and telenovelas. It launched a genre that has captivated millions of viewers for decades and has influenced countless stories and storytellers. We are honored to celebrate this anniversary and to bring this classic series to a new generation of fans on ViX."

The series boasts an impressive cast, with Ela Velden ("¿Quién Mató a Sara?," "Gossip Girl: Acapulco") portraying the lead character Nora/Corina. Joining her are renowned actors such as Raúl Méndez ("Cocaine Godmother," "Narcos") as Federico Rubio, José Manuel Rincón ("Monarca," "Ringo: La pelea de su vida") as Roberto Rubio, Iliana Fox ("El Último Rey," "Imperio de mentiras") as Irene Rubio, Delaxa Meneses ("El amor invisible") as Martha Rubio, and Plutarco Haza ("El Señor de los Cielos," "Donde hubo fuego") as Raymundo Corrales.

"Senda Prohibida" narrates the story of Nora, a provincial girl who becomes determined to destroy a happy family in her quest for a luxurious lifestyle. Set in a time when women were often seen as decorative objects, Nora, known as Corina in the underworld of cabaret, stops at nothing to achieve the wealth she has always dreamt of. Manipulating men with her beauty and pitting family members against each other, she orchestrates a tumultuous journey where love, loyalty, and life itself hang in the balance.

The modern reimagining of "Senda Prohibida" features a talented team behind the scenes. The series was written by Leticia López Margalli ("Instructions Not Included," "Dark Desire"), Laura Sosa ("El señor de los cielos," "Al otro lado del muro"), and Nayura Aragón ("Al otro lado del muro," "Triptych"). Gustavo Ron ("Cable Girls," "Parot," "Velvet Colección," "45 rpm") directed the series, while Giselle González ("Cuna de Lobos," "Caer en tentación") served as the producer.
