Multi-GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY-winning producer Edgar Barrera has released his latest single, “Qué Puedo Perder,” featuring regional Mexican breakout act Yahritza y Su Esencia. The song isn’t just a new addition to Latin playlists—it’s the official theme for Pase a la Fama, Telemundo’s upcoming music competition show, debuting June 8 at 9PM/8C.

With lyrics that reflect grit, ambition, and survival, “Qué Puedo Perder” captures the reality of chasing dreams even when the odds feel stacked against you. It’s both personal and relatable—especially for those with roots in migration stories and a relentless drive to push forward.

Blending Regional Roots With Raw Emotion

Produced and co-written by Barrera, alongside Yahritza, Armando, and Jairo Martínez, the track blends Yahritza y Su Esencia’s urban sierreño style with traditional regional Mexican tones. The result is a stripped-down, emotionally charged track that feels real, not rehearsed.

“Working with Yahritza y Su Esencia on this song was incredibly special,” Barrera shared. “Their sound is raw and emotional. It comes from real lived experiences—and that’s what made this song so honest.”

A Music Video That Stays Close to the Ground

The release is paired with a visual that digs even deeper into the track’s themes. Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Carlos López Estrada (Raya and The Last Dragon, Blindspotting), the music video was shot in a cilantro field in Los Angeles. The location wasn’t just scenic—it was symbolic, offering a quiet but powerful backdrop for the song’s themes of struggle, hope, and pride in hard work.

“Directing this video was personal,” said López Estrada. “The message in the song deserved a visual that matched its weight.”

Soundtracking the Next Generation

“Qué Puedo Perder” doesn’t just sit as a standalone release. As the theme song for Pase a la Fama, it will be part of a bigger story about talent, resilience, and the search for something bigger. Co-produced by Telemundo and HYBE Latin America, the show aims to shine a light on artists with heart and hunger.

Now available across all major platforms—Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube, and Deezer—the single is a timely reminder that taking a risk on yourself might be the only shot that really matters.
