The numbers came fast. Within days of its release, El Trap De Kolombia had debuted at number 3 on Spotify's Top Albums Debut Global chart and number 4 on Top Albums Debut USA, making it one of the strongest opening weeks for a Latin urban project in 2026. In Colombia, Kris R reclaimed the number 1 spot with "GANAS" while every single track from the album entered Spotify's Top 50 in the country simultaneously. On YouTube Colombia, he placed five videos inside the Top 10 at the same time.

For context on where that puts him: Kris R is currently sitting at number 2 on Spotify's Top Artists chart in Colombia. The only artist ahead of him is Bad Bunny.

The Album

El Trap De Kolombia is 14 tracks and covers a lot of ground. The project moves between hard-hitting trap, rap, and more rhythmic records, with themes that pull from ambition, perseverance, love, and the realities of everyday life inside Latin urban culture. It's the kind of album that reads as a statement of range rather than a single-lane flex.

The collaborator list reflects Kris R's position in the current Latin urban landscape. Myke Towers, ROA, Darell, Noriel, Neutro Shorty, GeezyDee, Hanzel La H, and Tury all appear on the project. There's also a special appearance from Doble Porción, and a contribution from the late Métricas Frías, a respected figure in Colombian rap and a close friend of the artist. That inclusion carries weight beyond the music.

Music as a tool for transformation

The Community Side

On the day the album dropped, Kris R wasn't just watching the chart numbers come in. He was at Bellavista Prison in Medellín.

He spent time with inmates, hosted a listening session and live performance of the album, and donated a fully equipped recording studio to the facility. The studio is designed to let inmates record music and learn the technical side of production and engineering, expanding an existing set of programs aimed at giving people inside a practical skill and a creative outlet.

He followed that up with a second visit, this time to the Distrital Prison in Bogotá, where he did the same: spent time with the community there, performed, and donated another recording studio.

Kris R has been public about the belief that music can function as a path toward transformation for people looking for a way forward. The prison visits on album release day weren't a press strategy. They were the clearest possible statement of that conviction.

Platinum wins and major tour announcement

The Press Conference and the Certifications

At Movistar Arena in Bogotá, Kris R held a press conference to talk through the album launch, the chart performance, and the community work in Medellín and Bogotá. During the event, Warner Music presented him with Platinum single certifications for "GANAS" and "LOS CACORROS USAN KLEIMOND," recognizing both tracks' commercial performance.

He also used the occasion to confirm what many had been speculating about: his first headline show at the Movistar Arena in Bogotá on October 23, as part of an international tour supporting the album. Fan presale registration is open at KRISR.co, with the fan presale beginning March 18 and general on-sale starting March 20.

From breakout star to global force

Where He Stands

Over the past year, Kris R has crossed 1 billion streams, sold out shows across Latin America, the United States, and Spain, and collected multiple RIAA Platinum and Gold certifications. El Trap De Kolombia arriving with this kind of opening weekend doesn't feel like a surprise when you look at the trajectory. It feels like the next logical step.

The Movistar Arena date in October will be the biggest show of his career. Given the pace at which this album landed, it probably won't be the last time he headlines a room that size.
