ABOUT 2DEEP
Luis Cardenas, better known by his stage name 2DEEP, is an Ecuadorian/Colombian DJ and producer who was born in the Bronx, New York, and spent some time growing up there. A Los Angeles native, 2DEEP has been developing a distinctive electronic Latin sound while fusing various genres in fresh and seamless ways. At the age of 16, he requested that his sister enroll him in DJ school for his birthday because he was fascinated by the DJ battles depicted in the movie Juice. He fell in love right away. After two years, he started making songs.
He started hosting a Latin event called MUEVELO in Los Angeles in 2011 and booked artists like Diplo and Dillon Francis to perform there. He started a small online music company through these incidents, which would make personalized playlists that featured the songs and was distributed by Diplo's label MAD DECENT. He entered a reel into a DJ competition for Dim Mak in 2013, won, and received a prize that included an opening slot at TomorrowWorld in Georgia. In 2013, while working as an intern at MAD DECENT, he produced many mixes with Diplo. He carried on creating, DJing, and organizing Latin-inspired events in Los Angeles during the ensuing years, using them as platforms to promote his music. He founded the well-known LA event GASOLINA in 2017. His parties served as the catalyst for the return of Latin music to Los Angeles, and he frequently flew in DJs from all over the world to perform. Additionally, 2DEEP's music has been played all over the world at a variety of festivals and radio stations by artists such as Major Lazer, Diplo, Carnage, Dillon Francis, Skrillex, Flosstradamus, GTA, and others. In 2018, he and Rickstarr released "NOTA," which gained extensive press notice.
He was reintroduced to the Dim Mak crew in 2019 by a buddy who was working to develop their new Latin label, Dim Mak En Fuego, and he started working with Steve Aoki. He joined the Baja Beach Fest lineup in 2021 and performed sets both weekends alongside some of the best Latin acts. Later on in the year, he left GASOLINA and started REGGAETONLANDIA, which has already played home to a number of lucrative West Coast tournaments. The first Latin DJ/Producer signed to Dim Mak En Fuego by Steve Aoki, 2DEEP, has already started producing his debut EP, which will be released in 2019.
