A Mother’s Day to Remember: MISO’s Emotional Season Finale

At the close of its 2024–2025 season, the Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO) made a historic announcement that rippled through Miami’s cultural scene. For the first time, the prestigious MISO Golden Baton Award was presented to a Hispanic woman outside the music industry: Tatiana Guiribitey.

A well-known philanthropist, entrepreneur, and influencer, Guiribitey was honored during MISO’s Mother’s Day Celebration concert on Sunday, May 11, at the Adrienne Arsht Center. The award was presented by Maestro Eduardo Marturet and Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, with a packed audience watching the emotional moment unfold.

Guiribitey Honored for Cultural Impact

A Celebration of Impact Beyond the Stage

Guiribitey has long been recognized for her commitment to the arts, her support for Miami’s cultural growth, and her work uplifting Hispanic communities. Although she’s not a musician, her impact has resonated across the local arts landscape, making her selection a powerful statement about the importance of creative supporters behind the scenes.

“I feel honored, deeply grateful, and filled with happiness,” she shared after accepting the award.

She attended the event with her husband, Dr. Pedro Guiribitey, daughters Camila and Patricia, and close friends from Miami’s social and creative circles.

MISO’s Touching Musical Tribute to Mothers

A Concert That Paid Tribute to Mothers Everywhere

The evening’s theme focused on love, resilience, and the beauty of motherhood. The program featured works by Ravel, Beethoven, Mozart, Kreisler, Rachmaninoff, and Falla. Guest performers included Daniel Andai, Solange Merdinian, Christie Julien, Lauren Conde, and a special appearance by Latin music star Justin Quiles.

The musical lineup and emotional resonance of the evening made it a standout finale for MISO’s season.

A Historic First, A Cultural Milestone

Tatiana Guiribitey’s recognition marks a meaningful shift in how institutions like MISO acknowledge contributions to the arts. This isn’t just about who performs—it’s also about who uplifts, funds, promotes, and protects cultural spaces in the community.

As the first Hispanic woman outside of music to receive this award, Guiribitey represents the growing visibility of Latinas in leadership, influence, and civic contribution in Miami and beyond.
