Armina, a luxury stone fabrication and custom millwork company, has been chosen to handle all stonework and millwork for The James Hotel & Residences, a nearly 1,100-foot tower currently under development in Downtown Miami. The selection positions Armina as a key partner in executing the design vision for the landmark condo-hotel project.
The James Hotel & Residences is being developed by Mint Developers and branded by Sonesta International Hotels. The building will rise 1,049 feet and include 411 luxury condominium units, 45,000 square feet of amenities, and a 56,000-square-foot multi-level Sport and Social Club.
Armina's Role in the Project
Armina will oversee stonework and millwork throughout the entire development, including residences, kitchens, bathrooms, wellness spaces, social areas, and signature amenity environments. The company operates two South Florida locations: Armina Stone Miami, a gallery and fabrication facility in Hialeah, and the Armina Luxe showroom in the Miami Design District.
"Being selected for a project of this scale and caliber underscores our team's commitment to excellence," said Emre Basman, Founder of Armina. "The James represents the future of elevated hospitality and residential living in Miami, and we're honored to help bring this iconic property to life."
The partnership goes beyond a typical vendor relationship, with Armina positioned as what the company calls "an essential collaborator" in bringing the project's elevated design to completion.
What The James Offers
The James Hotel & Residences blends residential living with resort-level offerings and hotel services. The development features several notable amenities including what's described as the world's first multi-level indoor padel club with seven courts, oxygen and wellness chambers, a fitness center, and yoga and pilates studios.
Culinary programming will be curated by Michelin-starred chefs, and the building will house one of the highest rooftop bars and restaurants in the United States. A 677-foot-high Sky Lounge will be exclusive to select unit owners, offering a wellness and relaxation sanctuary with snow and rain rooms, plunge pools, private cabanas, outdoor treatment spaces, members-only spa areas, private gyms, and pools. Unit owners will also have access to The James Hotel in South Beach.
The development is designed for both unit owners who want to live in the building and guests staying through the hotel program, creating a hybrid condo-hotel model.
Armina Added to Sonesta's Recommended Manufacturer List
Beyond this specific project, Armina Stone has been approved for inclusion on Sonesta International Hotels' Recommended Manufacturer List across multiple brands. These include Royal, Classico, MOD, Sonesta Hotels & Resorts, Essential, Simply, Select, ES Suites, and value brands.
The approval came after what the company describes as a comprehensive review process evaluating Armina Stone's qualifications, capabilities, and overall approach. This designation makes Armina Stone a preferred partner for future Sonesta projects, not just The James.
Sonesta International Hotels is one of the largest hospitality companies in the U.S., operating 13 brands across 1,100 properties with 6.9 million loyalty members. The James is a storied brand within the Sonesta portfolio.
About the Developer
Mint Developers is handling the project, bringing what they describe as decades of experience in high-rise and mid-rise development, construction, and operational management across domestic and international markets. Mint represents a collaboration between Big Development and AD1, with a combined portfolio of over 5,000 units developed or managed.
Armina's Background
Armina specializes in granite, marble, and quartz countertops, along with the design, fabrication, and installation of stone, cabinetry, and large slab flooring for both residential and commercial projects. The company is headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, where it operates three Armina Stone locations serving the Greater Pennsylvania area.
In 2024, Armina expanded into South Florida with its Miami operations. The company has received recognition including "Best Kitchen & Bath Supplier" by Pittsburgh Magazine's Reader's Choice Awards in 2020 and 2023, The Cosentino Group's 2019 "Top Fabricator in North America" Award, and the 2019 Smart 50 Award for Innovation, Impact, and Sustainability.
For a company that started in Pittsburgh, landing a project of this scale in Miami represents significant growth in a competitive luxury market.
