G-SHOCK x Joshua Vides Collaboration Lands in Colombia

A watch that looks unfinished is exactly the point. G-SHOCK's latest collaboration with artist Joshua Vides has reached Colombia, bringing the brand's two most recognizable digital models, the DW-5600 and DW-6900, into a design world built on thick black lines and stark monochrome contrast .

Vides built his reputation on a concept he calls "Reality to Idea," a technique that renders three-dimensional objects as though they were sketched by hand in black and white. The Rialto, California native started the project in 2018 after stepping away from CLSC, a streetwear brand he had grown to more than 400 retailers before choosing to pursue art full time. Since then, his work has covered Ferraris, sneakers, and full interior spaces, and it has extended into collaborations with brands including BMW M.

The collaboration produced two models: the DW5600JV-7, finished in gloss white with bold black linework, and the DW6900JV-1, done in matte black with white graphics tracing the case and strap. Casio America described the release as one where "art and durability collide," according to the brand's official announcement. Each watch carries handwritten function labels around the dial, and Vides' signature traffic cone motif appears hidden inside the LED backlight display when activated.

The two models retain the core specifications that have kept the 5600 and 6900 families in steady rotation for decades: shock-resistant construction, 200-meter water resistance, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, and a multi-function alarm. That combination of durability and design has made G-SHOCK a repeat target for artist collaborations, with the DW-5600 in particular serving as a canvas across streetwear and design circles for years.

Global G-SHOCK rollout reaches Colombia.

A Global Rollout Reaches New Markets

The collection first launched in the United States at a pop-up event in Los Angeles before expanding to retailers including the G-SHOCK SoHo Store. It has since rolled out internationally, with Singapore distributing the watches through a Casio ID raffle draw and India pricing the pair at Rs 12,995 each through select G-SHOCK stores, according to local coverage of those launches. Colombia's arrival places the market alongside that expanding list, extending a release that outlets have already flagged as one of G-SHOCK's more design-forward drops in recent memory.

For Vides, the watches mark another entry in a portfolio that now spans automotive, footwear, and, as of a recent museum installation, a permanent wing at the Petersen Automotive Museum. For G-SHOCK, the collaboration functions as a familiar formula: take a decades-old case, hand it to an artist with a distinct visual signature, and let the collectible market decide the rest. Whether Colombia's release matches the pace of sellouts reported elsewhere will likely shape how quickly, and how far, the collaboration travels next.
