Today, Prime Video dropped the much-awaited trailer for the new series "The Horror of Dolores Roach." Starring Justina Machado, the eight-episode series is set to premiere on July 7. The Amazon Original will be accessible exclusively to Prime Video members across 240 countries and territories. The unique series forms part of the comprehensive entertainment package offered to Amazon Prime members.

The chilling drama, created by Aaron Mark, is a visual adaptation of the popular Spotify podcast of the same name. The series offers a darkly comedic twist on the classic Sweeney Todd tale. It weaves together elements of love, betrayal, and survival, with an unsettling backdrop of cannibalism.

Machado's character, Dolores Roach, makes a striking return to her gentrified hometown, Washington Heights, after enduring an unjust 16-year prison sentence. She finds solace in an old friend, Luis (Alejandro Hernandez), who provides her with a job and shelter under his empanada shop. However, when her newfound stability begins to waver, Dolores, known for her "Magic Hands," is driven to extreme lengths to survive.

The concept, originally penned by Aaron Mark as a one-woman play titled "Empanada Loca," transformed into a riveting podcast series that Mark wrote, created, and directed. Mark has also written the series pilot script, and he now serves as the co-showrunner and executive producer of the visual series, alongside Dara Resnik.

The production team comprises executive producers Daphne Rubin-Vega, Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold, and Chris Dickie representing Blumhouse Television, Dawn Ostroff, Mimi O'Donnell, and Justin McGoldrick from Spotify, and Gloria Calderón Kellett for GloNation Studios.
