Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Nalo Neptuno, based in Miami, unveils his highly anticipated single Volaste on August 22. More than a track, Volaste is an exploration of sensuality, empowerment, and emotional liberation—marking a bold new chapter in his musical career.
Vocal production by Stevie Marcs and engineering by Diego Contento bring out the intensity and soul of Nalo’s vision. The song tells the story of a forbidden connection where attraction and passion push beyond conventional boundaries. With raw emotion, intimate rhythms, and a provocative tone, Volaste invites listeners to embrace authenticity and step into their power.
The release date itself was intentional: August 22 aligns with the “8/22 energy portal,” a symbolic moment of rebirth and transformation. Nalo connected his message of resilience and light with this cosmic energy, ensuring the single would arrive as more than just music—it’s a statement.
To celebrate the launch, Nalo shared insights into the inspiration, production, and future direction of his artistry:
Q&A with Nalo Neptuno
You released it on August 22, tying it to the “8/22 energy portal.” What does that date personally mean to you, and how does it connect with your message of empowerment?
For me, August 22 feels like a door that opens into a new cycle. Numerologically, it carries a vibration of alignment and inner strength, and I wanted to release Volaste on that day to mark it as a moment of rebirth. The song is about reclaiming your own light after loss or doubt, so the 8/22 energy portal made sense as it represents stepping into your power and not looking back.
Working with Stevie Marcs on vocal production and Diego Contento on engineering, what unique elements did they bring to the track’s final sound?
Stevie Marcs really helped me find the rawness and emotion in my vocals, he knows how to push me to give more than just notes, to actually deliver the feeling. Diego Contento brought everything together with his ear for balance. He mixed all the elements with such clarity, and the bass he added gave the track a heartbeat that makes it move in a deeper way. Together they created the sonic space where Volaste could fully live.
With your upcoming EP Sin Pasaje de Vuelta, how does Volaste set the stage for what fans can expect musically and thematically?
Volaste is like the opening chapter. It’s vulnerable but also resilient. The EP explores transformation, identity, and choosing yourself even when it’s hard. Musically, it blends my Caribbean roots with contemporary sounds, choral influences, and rhythms that feel both intimate and expansive. It’s a journey without return, which is why the title is Sin Pasaje de Vuelta.
If someone listens to Volaste for the first time, what’s the one emotion or thought you hope stays with them after the last note?
I want them to feel lifted. Even if they’re going through pain or heartbreak, I hope the song reminds them that there’s always a way to rise above it. That they, too, can fly out of whatever is holding them back.
With Volaste, Nalo Neptuno continues to defy labels and push boundaries, blending his Caribbean roots, choral background, and Miami’s multicultural energy into a signature sound that is both global and personal. His upcoming EP Sin Pasaje de Vuelta promises to expand this journey—an unapologetic embrace of identity, transformation, and self-empowerment.
