Mariah Angeliq Signs With Pitbull's Mr. 305 Records

Mariah Angeliq just changed labels, and she picked one built in her own city.

The Miami-born artist known as La Princesa de Miami has signed with Mr. 305 Records, the independent label founded by Pitbull, Billboard reported as an exclusive on Thursday, Aug. 13. The deal lands alongside her new single "A La Que Fui," out now on streaming platforms. Apple Music

Established hits meet Miami's label.

Mariah Angeliq's Deal Comes With a Track Record

Mariah Angeliq is not walking into Mr. 305 Records untested. Her 2019 breakout single "Perreito" was certified two-times platinum by the RIAA and peaked at No. 21 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart. Two years later, she landed one of the bigger features of her career on "El Makinón," a duet with Karol G that appeared on Karol G's 2021 album KG0516, a placement that put her name next to one of the biggest stars in Latin music. According to figures shared by her team, her catalog has since crossed 1.7 billion Spotify streams and drawn more than 417 million YouTube views, though those numbers have not been independently verified by a third party. Mr. 305 Records was built with a similar hometown identity. Pitbull, born and raised in Miami, launched the label as Mr. 305 Inc. before releasing his 2019 album Libertad 548 as its first independent project. The label is led by CEO Robert Fernandez, who co-founded the company with Pitbull, and has since built out a roster of Latin artists working across reggaeton, pop and urban genres. Mariah Angeliq's Sound Is Shifting on "A La Que Fui"

"A La Que Fui" is not the record fans might expect from an artist known for high-energy reggaeton. The song is about making peace with a former version of herself, framed as a farewell rather than a regret. In her own words, shared in the announcement, she said the track came from having to let go of things she once held onto to find peace she had not felt before.

Barbara Rivas, the label's head of label and artist development, framed the signing as the start of a more vulnerable creative period for the singer. Rivas said this next chapter will let fans see a more personal side of Mariah and that she is looking forward to fans connecting with her on a deeper level through the new music, according to the announcement. Robert Fernandez, the label's CEO, echoed that outlook, saying the team is excited to help the artist grow while making music built to connect with listeners globally.

Two Miami Names, One Label

The signing carries a hometown angle that both sides are leaning into. Mariah Angeliq was born and raised in Miami to Puerto Rican and Cuban parents, a background she has built her artistic identity around since her earliest releases. Mr. 305 Records, meanwhile, carries Pitbull's own Miami branding in its name, a reference to the city's area code that has followed him since the start of his career.

For Mariah, the deal is less about a change in scenery and more about aligning with a label whose story mirrors her own. She has spent the past several years establishing herself as one of the leading female voices in Latin urban music, and pairing that with a label built on the same city's identity gives the partnership a symmetry that labels rarely get to claim.

What comes next depends on how far "A La Que Fui" travels and whether the more reflective tone holds for the rest of her Mr. 305 output. Either way, the signing adds another notable name to a label roster already carrying Pitbull's own legacy in the city, and it gives Mariah a new chapter to build on a catalog that already has platinum certifications behind it.
