Natanael Cano Ventures into Acting with HBO Max's Mexican Original Series "VGLY"

Natanael Cano, the multi-platinum selling artist, is set to make his acting debut on HBO Max's new Mexican original series "VGLY," which premieres on May 25th. The platform released the series' official trailer in Mexico City at Dolls Drinks located in the Tepito neighborhood, where music and culture thrive. Cano introduced the trailer virtually while the VGLY cast attended the event. Cano will play the role of Lil Vato, a renowned rapper from the same neighborhood as the show's crew.

VGLY tells the story of young actors Benny Emmanuel, Juan Daniel García Treviño, Alex Lago, and Sasha González, among others, as they pursue their music dreams in an industry plagued by fake friends, haters, and exaggerations. These friends risk it all to become the next urban music phenomenon.

Last week, Cano released a new certified hit "Pacas de Billetes," in which he celebrates the boundless impact he has made on the music industry with his famed corridos tumbados, the face of a new revolution.

Cano's career has seen a significant shift in 2023, with the Mexican superstar selling out his show at the iconic Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City within hours of the announcement. The multi-platinum artist will become the first-ever corridos tumbados artist to perform at the venue on May 30th. He also announced upcoming stops in Guadalajara on June 1st and Puebla on June 2nd.

In addition, Cano has dominated Spotify Mexico and global charts this year with smash hits "AMG" and "PRC," alongside Gabito Ballesteros and Peso Pluma. "AMG" topped Spotify Mexico's Top Songs chart at #1, followed by "PRC" at #2. "AMG" also debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #92, making it Cano's first appearance on the chart. The song has since earned more than 293 million streams on Spotify alone, and "PRC" has over 238 million streams on the platform.

Cano's original and innovative flair continues to take the world by storm, restructuring the music industry with the boom of corridos. He currently works on new music for his upcoming album, which is set for release later this year.
