Early Life and Education
Yeisy's musical education began at the National Art School (ENA) in Havana, Cuba, where she honed her skills as a violinist. From 2009 to 2016, she was employed as a violinist with the National Ballet and the Opera in Havana, contributing to numerous performances that showcased her talent.
Moving to Norway and Further Studies
In 2016, Yeisy moved to Norway to pursue further studies. She earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree in performing rhythmic and world music at the music conservatory at the University of Agder. This period of academic and artistic growth allowed her to expand her musical horizons and develop her unique style.
Launching a Solo Career
Yeisy's solo career took off in October 2021 with the release of her first single, "Mas Mas," at the Bergen International Music Festival. Her second single, "Camino de Elegua," followed in February 2022, coinciding with a performance at the Serendip Festival in Oslo. Both singles were recorded in Havana, featuring collaborations with musicians Rolando Luna, Yissy Garcia, David Faya, and Adel Gonzales.
Live Performances and Collaborations
On April 30, 2022, Yeisy performed at the Victoria National Jazz Stage for International Jazz Day, an event established by UNESCO. She collaborated with Grammy award winners Gaston Joya on bass and Rodney Barreto on drums, further solidifying her presence in the international jazz scene.
Recognition and Recent Works
In June 2023, Yeisy's single "Mama Ines" was highlighted by Billboard Magazine in their "On The Radar" segment, showcasing emerging artists. This recognition was followed by the release of her acclaimed studio album, "A Mis Ancestros," in December 2023. The album has received praise from leading industry publications, marking a significant milestone in her career.
