The category this year pairs a veteran act in Maná with a newer name in Matisse, and three vocal harmony groups in Morat, Rawayana and Reik. Winners will be announced October 22 at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, with the ceremony broadcast on Telemundo and Peacock.
Morat's Nomination Lands Mid Tour in Chile
The timing lines up with momentum the band has built since Ya Es Mañana, its fourth studio album, came out in 2025. Morat is midway through six shows at Movistar Arena in Santiago as part of the Ya Es Mañana World Tour, with five of the six dates selling out ahead of the run, according to Chilean outlet FMDOS. A sixth date was added once early tickets moved fast enough to justify it, a pattern that has followed the band across this cycle. Bogotá's Movistar Arena sold out six consecutive Morat shows in August, and tickets for four Buenos Aires dates went in minutes in September, according to Colombian outlet El Universal.
That kind of arena math is part of why a nomination built on chart and streaming data lands differently than one built on buzz. Morat has spent the better part of two years converting a loyal Spanish language fan base into six figure ticket sales across Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Spain and Mexico.
Morat's "Sin Ti" Already Won at Premios Juventud
The Billboard nomination follows a win at Premios Juventud on September 3, where Morat and Puerto Rican singer Jay Wheeler took Best Pop/Rock Song for "Sin Ti," a track from Ya Es Mañana. The band was also up for Favorite Group or Duo of the Year at that ceremony, a category it lost to Santos Bravos, according to Billboard's winners list. "Sin Ti" was filmed in Miami and released in May 2025, pairing Morat's acoustic pop rock foundation with Jay Wheeler's more urban delivery, a combination the band has leaned on to widen its audience beyond the ballad heavy catalog that built its early career.
The song's video, directed by Nuno Gomes, was shot inside a Miami supermarket rather than on a conventional set, a choice the band's team has described as part of a deliberate nineties aesthetic for the Ya Es Mañana era.
Whether Morat wins Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Duo or Group on October 22 depends on a full year of chart data rather than a single night on stage. Still, the nomination caps a stretch that already includes a first Coachella booking for 2026 and a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Pop/Rock Album with Ya Es Mañana in 2025. For a band that started as a school friendship in Bogotá and got its first hit from a Paulina Rubio duet a decade ago, an award season decided by ticket receipts and airplay numbers is arguably the harder one to win.
