Sebastian Spiess is an accomplished artist and fashion designer hailing from the city of Cali, Colombia. From a young age, he has always been drawn to the arts and has dedicated his thoughts, projects, and efforts towards pursuing his passion. His unique artistic style combines art with mechatronics and electronics, creating a dynamic and innovative body of work.
Spiess is heavily influenced by two distinct cultures - Colombian culture from his mother's side and Swiss culture from his father's side. Additionally, he has had the opportunity to explore and learn from multiple other cultures, which has played a crucial role in shaping his character and identity as both a human being and an artist.
His family has been an unwavering source of support and encouragement throughout his artistic journey. His first work of art was a COW, which was inspired by his mother, and his second most important work, ISA, is dedicated to his sister. Spiess deeply believes that children are the future, and as such, he has dedicated time to visiting schools and sharing his art with them. He hopes to leave a lasting impression of creativity and positivity with the children, encouraging them to always believe in themselves.
Spiess' art does not have a specific target audience, as his works have been purchased by people of all ages. This serves as a testament to the fact that art knows no barriers, and we should not impose any. Each of his pieces reflects a part of him and exudes a strong sense of character. Despite being made of seemingly sturdy materials, his works are also delicate and require precision and accuracy. Each piece presents its own unique challenges, whether it be on a technical level or in terms of working with different materials and sizes. Spiess' talent in mathematics also comes into play when creating his art. Spiess has had the opportunity to showcase his work at several prestigious exhibitions such as the Swiss Art Expo, Amsterdam Art Exhibition, Brick Lane Gallery in London, and Miami Art Basel Week. The latter being one of the most important art weeks in Miami, where artists from all over the world come together to share their work and celebrate the love of art.
In 2022, Spiess had a particularly successful year, traveling to several countries and sharing his work with others. He also had the opportunity to continue creating new pieces in his workshop in Medellín and showcasing them at new galleries. He believes in his own talent but also encourages people to work with him even if they don't have all the knowledge, but are eager to learn and give their best. With the year 2023 fast approaching, we can expect to see even more of this great artist's work.
