Joaquina, the talented Venezuelan singer-songwriter, kicks off the year with a wave of nostalgia through "pelinegra," her first release of 2026, an intimate song that captures the deep bond between her and her younger sister, Kiki.
Throughout the song and video, now available on YouTube, we see Joaquina alongside Salomé Rivas, also known as "Baby Salomé," who plays Kiki. Together, they recreate childhood memories such as playing mermaids in the pool, running to the car, and sharing clothes, a detail that is visually reflected as they appear dressed alike, creating a fun and exciting choreography that naturally conveys the complicity between them. "Pelinegra" reconstructs a relationship between sisters that has grown, changed, and survived the passage of time.

More Than Just Nostalgia
Beyond nostalgia, Joaquina's new track speaks to the purest kind of love, the kind that blends playfulness, guilt, admiration, unconditional loyalty, and a deep sense of protection. The song becomes a universal declaration between sisters, a reminder that, no matter what, the younger sister will always be "that fun little girl" who fills everything with color and represents one of life's most precious gifts.
"Pelinegra" is part of 'al romper la burbuja 2,' the follow-up to her debut album 'al romper la burbuja,' which was nominated for "Album of the Year" at the 26th Latin GRAMMY Awards, a rare honor for an artist still in development. Since its release, 'al romper la burbuja' has received critical acclaim and has been highlighted by Billboard and Rolling Stone, both U.S. and En Español editions, as "one of the best albums of 2025."
Announced last week on social media, 'al romper la burbuja 2' will be available January 30 and will feature brand-new songs alongside previously released singles already beloved by fans, such as "amarillo" and "los 41."
Collaboration with Rawayana
Kicking off the year in style, Joaquina was also invited by her fellow Venezuelans, Rawayana, to collaborate on "Cimarrón," a track included in the band's new album, '¿Dónde Es El After?,' released on January 1.
About this first collaboration, Joaquina said: "Friends from Rawa, thank you for inviting me. I love this song, but above all, I love and admire you immensely. Thank you for inspiring me and so many others, and for making music that accompanies us when we want to make life a little lighter. But most of all, thank you for always carrying Venezuela's name high with such persistence and dedication. I'm so lucky to not only share this song but also contribute a small part to an album so important to you! I had so much fun making it."
What's Next
Coming up, Joaquina is preparing for a series of performances, including Lollapalooza Argentina and Lollapalooza Chile, making her the youngest artist to perform at both Latin American editions of this renowned festival. In addition, she will headline her own show in Madrid on March 22 at Sala But, as part of her "al romper la burbuja Deluxe Tour."
For an artist whose debut album earned a Latin GRAMMY nomination and widespread critical acclaim, "pelinegra" represents a personal turn, focusing on family relationships and childhood rather than broader themes. The follow-up album 'al romper la burbuja 2' will show whether this more intimate approach continues or if Joaquina expands in different directions.
